About Equality El Dorado

Our Story
Equality El Dorado began in 2019 as a small Facebook page offering support, information, and connection to LGBTQIA+ people in Butler County. It quickly became clear that the need for visibility, resources, and safe spaces in El Dorado was much bigger than a few posts online. In 2024, we formed an official board and took the leap toward becoming a full-fledged nonprofit. We opened our first physical space to provide a welcoming, affirming environment for people of all identities, backgrounds, and ages.
This organization was created because we believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, seen, and valued no matter where they live.
Our Vision
Our vision is to make El Dorado, Kansas a place where LGBTQIA+ people don’t just survive they thrive.
We’re working to create a community where safety, inclusion, and support are the norm. Through programming, partnerships, and open doors, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate town one where no one has to choose between their identity and their hometown.
